Kit Siang: It’s a great victory for
all
KUALA LUMPUR: DAP adviser Lim Kit
Siang had expected a wind of change to blow but did not
think it would blow that strong and hard.
Lim, who won the Ipoh Timor parliamentary seat, said it
was a great victory for all Malaysians.
“The Malaysians are rejoicing on the tsunami results.
They hoped for a change in Malaysia and we will do what
we can to ensure the people's expectation is met in the
economy, democracy, accountability and transparency.
“This was a message that must be heard loud and clear by
the leaders of this country,” he said.
Transparency International Malaysia president Tan Sri
Ramon Navaratnam said the people wanted integrity and
accountability from the government and also for their
MPs to be humble.
“The silent majority has spoken, there is a wind of
change,” he said in a statement.
Wanita DAP secretary Teresa Kok said the tremendous
victory of the opposition parties in the elections “was
really shocking for everybody”.
“This is a miracle and divine intervention,” she told
reporters before meeting political leaders at Datuk Seri
Anwar Ibrahim's residence in Bukit Segambut yesterday.
“This cuts across races. The people came forward to
demand changes,” she said.
