Events - Anti-Corruption Workshop – Leading Business Integrity in Sandakan

On 21 July 2025 (Monday), Transparency International Malaysia (TI-M), in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Sabah, successfully hosted a pilot workshop titled Anti-Corruption Workshop – Leading Business Integrity in Sabah Hotel, Sandakan.

The event was graced by YBhg. Datuk TPj Karunanithy A/L Y. Subbiah, Director of MACC Sabah, whose presence underscored the shared commitment to integrity and accountability. The workshop brought together 45 participants from diverse industries including plantations, banking, and other key sectors marking a significant step in fostering ethical practices in East Malaysia.

The session aimed to:
💡 Raise awareness of corruption’s impact on communities and the broader economy.
💡 Equip businesses and agencies with tools to develop effective whistleblowing systems and integrity frameworks
💡 Strengthen capacity to report corruption and understand its root causes
💡 Identify opportunities for future collaboration and support mechanisms for anti-corruption efforts across Sabah

The success of this pilot initiative marks a promising start toward cultivating a stronger culture of transparency and ethical leadership in Sabah’s business landscape. TI-Malaysia remains committed to expanding these efforts nationwide, fostering strategic partnerships, and empowering more organisations to take an active stand against corruption.
