Transparency International Malaysia (TI-M) proudly kicked off its inaugural Bi-Monthly Webinar Series on 26 September 2025, marking a new initiative aimed at enriching the knowledge and capacity of our individual and corporate members in the fight against corruption.
The first session, titled “Safeguard Your Business Against Money Laundering and Financial Crime Risk,” was led by Mr. Nazri Shaidon, TI-M Executive Committee Member. The webinar attracted 40 online participants from diverse industries, reflecting strong interest in strengthening corporate integrity and compliance.
This comprehensive session provided participants with a practical understanding of Malaysia’s Anti-Money Laundering Act 2001 (AMLA) and Bank Negara Malaysia’s AML/CFT policies. Attendees explored how to identify financial crime risks, recognize red flags and typologies, and implement effective internal controls using a risk-based approach. The session also highlighted key findings from the National Risk Assessment 2023, the role of the National Financial Crime Centre (NFCC), and strategies to build a robust compliance culture that protects organisations from legal, financial, and reputational harm.
To close the session on an engaging note, participants joined an interactive quiz game designed to reinforce key takeaways in a fun and memorable way. The activity sparked enthusiastic participation and proved to be an excellent tool for knowledge retention.
Stay tuned for our next webinar in the series as we continue to empower our members with insights and tools to promote transparency, accountability, and good governance.
