🎉 Workshop Kickoff: Advancing Beneficial Ownership Transparency in Corporate in Malaysia
On 6 November, we proudly launched our series of half-day workshops on Advancing Beneficial Ownership Compliance in Corporate Malaysia, held at Royale Chulan Hotel, Georgetown, Penang. This initiative is jointly organized by Transparency International Malaysia (TI-M), The Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (MAICSA), and the Companies Commission Of Malaysia / Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM)
The workshop aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of beneficial ownership and its role in promoting transparency, regulatory compliance, and corporate integrity. Attendees explored the latest regulatory frameworks and international best practices, with a focus on identifying and verifying beneficial owners within corporate structures.
The event began with an opening speech by EXCO member Mr. Nazri Shaidon, highlighting transparency as key to corporate trust and accountability.
We were honored to host two distinguished speakers:
🗣️ Ms. Samantha Tai Yit Chan, Council Member, MAICSA
🗣️ Ms. Wan Farahnaz Mohd Noor, Executive, Enforcement Section, SSM
A total of 41 participants attended, representing a diverse range of companies across Penang, primarily company secretaries, along with directors, and integrity and governance officers.
✨ Thank you to all participants, speakers, and partners for making this event a success. We look forward to continuing this important conversation in our upcoming sessions as we work together to strengthen corporate governance and promote a culture of transparency in Malaysia.
