On 13 November, Transparency International Malaysia (TI-M), in collaboration with MAICSA and the Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM/SSM), held the second leg of its “Advancing Beneficial Ownership Compliance in Corporate Malaysia” workshop at the Waterfront Hotel, Kuching. The event brought together over 50 participants from companies and government agencies in Sarawak, mainly company secretaries and integrity officers. The workshop was officiated by Mr. Balbeer Singh, our EXCO member, and featured speakers included Ms Samantha Tai Yit Chan (MAICSA) and Ms Khairah Izzati Abdul Khalid (CCM/SSM Sarawak).
The workshop is part of TI-M’s ongoing efforts to promote corporate transparency and accountability, especially as financial crimes grow more sophisticated. Participants explored compliance strategies, regulatory updates, and international best practices through interactive discussions and case-based learning.
TI-M also welcomes the enforcement of the Companies (Amendment) Act 2024, which introduces enhanced Beneficial Ownership regulations—marking a significant step forward in Malaysia’s corporate governance landscape. 🚀📜
