PRESS STATEMENT, 21st January 2014, Kuala Lumpur – Transparency International Malaysia (TI-M) in collaboration with Sinar Project and SJ Echo today launched a new free website service to empower Subang Jaya citizens to transparently report and monitor local council issues. Citizens can report issues such as potholes, uncollected garbage, illegal dumping, faulty street lights, broken drains, double parking, and ‘kaput’ traffic lights and upload photo evidence and location markers.
Citizens can monitor their local council’s response and comment if remedial action was satisfactorily taken. They can also discuss online to organize collective solutions with all stakeholders in an open and transparent manner if the problem persists. Dato’ Akhbar Satar, President of TI-M said, “With the aim of increasing citizen engagement with local authorities, Aduanku intends to empower the Rakyat in voicing concerns that affect them and their community on a daily basis, which in turn will help to strengthen local government integrity”.
The web service is accessible at AduanKu.my and has both desktop and mobile web interface that simplifies the steps needed to accurately report a problem. Reports received are forwarded to local councils by the residents themselves, or by website reviewers and community partners. Once submitted, anybody can view and update on the reports. This will reduce duplicates and provides a transparent and accountable of all the local issues and concerns related to infrastructures and facilities.
The initial support area is Subang Jaya, however it is planned to support Petaling Jaya and Penang in coming months. Interested local councils, residents associations and neighbourhood watch are invited to contact AduanKu to work together to add support in their areas.

AduanKu is a website to facilitate citizens to report local council issues simply by locating the issue on a map or entering a street name. Its overall aim is to empower citizens to monitor their local authority performance and response in attending to their complaints in a transparent manner.
