Press Statement: Transparency International Malaysia supports the appointment of the New Director-General of the Road Transport Department (RTD)

Press Releases

19th Sep’ 2017- Transparency International Malaysia (TI-M) congratulates  Datuk Shaharuddin Khalid, who was formerly the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Legal Advisory Office Head on his appointment as the new Director-General of the Road Transport Department (RTD).

TI-M hopes that his previous experiences as the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy (MACA’s) Head of Corporate Integrity and MACC’s Inspection and Consultation Division’s director will help greatly to combat alleged corruption in the operations of RTD and to build integrity walls that keep out corruption and cement integrity as a core element of this government sectors.

TI-M fully supports the new Director-General’s vision for a better governance within RTD. With the leadership by Datuk Shaharuddin, TI-M hopes that enforcement against corrupt acts will be taken without fear and favour as any compromise of such integrity principles will affect the safety of public and road users. Indeed for this reason harsher punishment should be meted against such corrupt persons.

TI-M will certainly continue to work closely with the Road Transport Department (RTD), government agencies and the public for a corrupt free Malaysia.
