TI-M Supports IGP’s Initiative To Monitor Policemen Living Beyond Their Means

Transparency International-Malaysia (TI-M) Supports IGP’s important initiative to monitor policemen who live beyond their means

TI-M supports the initiative by the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan as we believe that this is a good example that should be followed by the civil service and government administration.

Government Officials, Members of Parliament, State Assemblymen and Local Councillors should also be subject to such scrutiny so long as this is done according to the provisions of the law.

The public should be encouraged to help the Police and other agencies identify persons whether in the public sector or the private sector are suspected of corruption so that they may be investigated by the agencies concerned.

We hope this initiative of the IGP will cover officers at all levels, including senior officers and not be confined to rank-and-file personnel.

In fact the emphasis should be on senior officers as they should set good leadership by example.

This laudable initiative should be embraced by all Malaysians who are keen to wipe out corruption and should form part of a national campaign and public movement to stamp out corruption with the full support of all parties concerned.
