Transparency International Malaysia (TI-M) calls on the authorities to immediately investigate the allegations recorded by Global Witness, a London based NGO on 19 March 2013.

The allegations are serious and have far reaching consequences. They include claims of abuse of logging licenses, systematic tax evasion and money laundering activities.

The positive tone from the top is an encouraging indicator of the government’s seriousness in fighting corruption and practicing good governance.

It is now up to members of the public to be the eyes and ears to monitor their elected representatives’ adherence to these standards.
